Swithland Church

Monday, 8 June

A planned day off today but as Gary wanted to go and take some photos of Swithland Church (the church and village from which the other main branch of the Danvers family take their name) we did go out for a drive.

Actually on the way we went into central Leicester to have a chat with the local Europcar office about a problem we've discovered with the rental car agreement, but they said sort it out with the Heathrow office via email before you return the car so we headed off for Swithland village and the church.

Since I was determined to have a day off I sat in the car while Gary wandered into the paddock where the village cross was relocated to many years ago.

Gary also investigated the new estate where once he, Tony, and Andrew had once blotted their copybooks by being home very late for tea because they got involved in family history research when they discovered the site of the old (Danvers) manor house.
