On Our Way

Monday, 30 May 2016

Got off to a less-than-auspicious start as we were all the way across Palmerston North before getting a call from Anne about a bag we'd left behind.  Luckily it wasn't an essential one, being only food for the day and a half we spend at Anne & Lloyd's place; even so we went back for it.  Embarrassing enough but we'd told Beth we would be arriving early ... and passed my brother, Blair, out surveying on a roundabout half-way across town.  So Blair saw us going one way, then the other, then back in the correct direction.  I daresay he's still laughing!

But eventually we pulled up at Beth's place.  We had to have the obligatory passport check:

We had three short stops - lunch at Flat Hills, Waiouru Army Museum to pick up some books for Anne, and Tokoroa to have afternoon tea with Beth's daughter Kathleen.

We arrived at Anne & Lloyd's just after 7pm and have had a drink (2 out of 3 of us), our tea (from the bag we went back for), and a cup of coffee.  Beth's now settled down with her cross-stitch and I'm writing the blog.  This is probably the pattern of how the next five weeks will go.

There, the first step is done.  We're really on our way.
