Here's a little background on our travelling companion, Marianne.

Family:

Married with two daughters, both in their early twenties and living at home.


Work:

Librarian 


Really Important Stuff:

Started reading Elinor Brent Dyer's Chalet books when a child. My father is Austrian, so the location of the early Chalet books was a real draw for me. Also, the time that the books were written and set was when my father was growing up there. I now have all of Elinor Brent Dyer's books in hardback.

Introduced to Elsie J. Oxenham's Abbey books as an adult through Jane handling the Girls Gone By reprints.  Also read Malcolm Saville as a child, Georgette Heyer as a teenager.

The trip is an opportunity to visit settings of some of these books, and visit my Austrian family.

It's a book pilgrimage.
