Gary and Dave got down to work on repairing the bargeboard and fence today. First step, remove the bits of the broken fence panel and tie the rose bush out of the way - ouch!

Watch that climbing rose |
For a change the weather was pleasant enough for Gary to be outside in a t-shirt so he was very happy to have a project or two to work on.

Getting into the swing of things |
With two houses worth of garden furniture (Dave's dad's, as the house is his, and Dave and Sharon's, who are staying here for a while) there is a place to sit for everybody - even a place to work.

Staining the fence timbers |
When I took a break from pulling out bindweed and cutting back brambles I sat on another chair in a different part of the small back yard and could hardly see the guys working on the other side of the garden bed. The birds also ignored the guys and their fence (re)building but did not like me mucking around in the garden. A pair of blue tits have a nest in the box in the tree and are full time feeding the babies, but it also seems as if a sparrow has a nest in the ivy and a robin a nest in the creeper which has covered a tree at the end of the garden.

Dave's niece (and her husband and toddler son) came for tea which Dave cooked. Pasta!
